What do you Feed?

In a world where our choices define us, there is a profound truth that often goes unnoticed. We become what we feed our hearts and minds. Our souls require a consistent diet of positivity, kindness, and love, just like our bodies require nourishing food. This reflection explores feeding our hearts, contrasting hate and love, and drawing wisdom from biblical scriptures to guide us toward a more fulfilling and purposeful life.

Our hearts and minds are constantly being bombarded with information, opinions, and emotions from social media, news, conversations, and more. These inputs shape our attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors. We can nurture our inner world by consciously choosing to feed it positivity and love. Feeding hate can lead to a toxic and corrosive state of mind. When we indulge in negativity, resentment, and anger, we harm ourselves and perpetuate a cycle of pain.

The more we feed hate, the more it grows within us, consuming our thoughts and influencing our interactions with others. This cycle distances us from our true selves and impedes our spiritual growth. “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” (Ephesians 4:31-32)

However, by nourishing love, we can foster positivity form strong connections, and find a sense of purpose. When we practice compassion, forgiveness, and empathy, we enrich our relationships and enhance our overall well-being. "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."(John 13:34)

Feeding hate or love is a choice we make every day. By becoming aware of our thoughts and deliberately selecting our mental diet, we can transform our lives and impact those around us. It is vital to recognize that this choice is not always easy; it requires mindfulness, self-reflection, and a commitment to personal growth. “Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."(Romans 12:2)

Amidst all the negativity that surrounds us, our choices hold immense power. It is crucial to embrace love, kindness, and positivity to uplift ourselves and make a positive impact on the world. The guidance from biblical scriptures reminds us of the eternal wisdom that lies in choosing to love over hate, and in doing so, we align ourselves with a higher purpose and a more fulfilling life journey. So, let us strive to be conscious of our choices, feeding the seeds of love within us and watching them blossom into a life of joy and harmony.
